I had to prepare for the practical exam in the month of April. I reached home in the evening after making arrangements for the girls’ seating, organizing refreshments, dividing the tasks of all the spokespersons, preparing the timetable, getting them printed, and getting the report of the girl students printed.
It was time for the evening aarti. That day my mother-in-law and sister of mother-in-law performed Sandhya Aarti in all the rooms. In my box room, mashima performed the evening aarti in front of the picture of Poojya Maharaj.
There is a wardrobe in this box room. in which there are four shelves.
In the first, I have agarbatti(incense) sticks, rose water, some religious books. In the second there are many pictures of Poojya Maharaj Ji. The picture in the middle of them is in a beautiful wooden frame with wooden peacocks sitting on either side. Its length is nine feet and its width is eight feet. This frame was given by a Nepali student to Professor Sahib. This frame is placed on a marble platform.

An almond-colored paper is spread under all the pictures.
To the left of the pictures, a small brass lamp is placed in a brass saucer. It is lit every day during the evening aarti.
At the same time, an incense stick is also placed in a brass stand on the right side of the pictures. Two pictures “A” and “B” on the left of the main picture are 5 and a half feet x 3 feet and the third picture is 8 feet x 6 feet tall.

On the right of the main picture, there are two pictures of Maharaj Ji. Behind them is the picture of my father. All the people in the house were worried because I did not reach home on time.
I was also feeling sad that I could not perform the evening aarti. In front of these pictures, as soon as I wake up in the morning, I offer water after offering prasad. The same is taken by Professor Sahib before drinking tea after washing his face and hands regularly.
After bath etc. in the morning and evening again Professor Sahib offers water and prasad. This sequence continues even in the presence and absence of Poojya Maharaj Ji. That day I was so tired that when I went to the room at 9.00 o’clock before having dinner, I saw that the paper lying under the picture was burnt in a line from the left to the right corner. But the fire has not spread upwards.

I was very surprised to see this. I politely asked the professor, “Who had shown the aarti yesterday evening?”
Professor! “Mashi Ma Ne!”
“Look, what?”
Professor! “Ki Kando!”
Seeing this, Prof. Saheb called Maa and Maasi Maa and started showing it. Other devotees were also called, showed but no one understood anything. Everyone was astonished to see.
Seeing this my mind sank into deep contemplation. I started thinking of what Poojya Maharaj Ji has shown. The world is all false. The body is momentary, the life of a man is nothing. In a moment, worldly pleasures and bodies cease to exist.
Is it worldly Maya or what else? Yet the worldly life follows it like a moth. Get involved in debates in different ways. Instead of love in the house, we sow the seeds of anger and hatred.
The feeling of distance between father and son, brother and brother, becomes deep that even for a moment the relation cannot be maintained.
I thought definitely some big event(incident) is going to happen. Poojya baba Ji has given a prior foreknowledge of some upcoming event so that I can maintain my balance. This is his great grace.
The examination was going on when I got information about my father being seriously ill. I had to take leave twice and go to Kanpur for seven days. My younger sister had also come from Delhi. On her arrival, I came to Allahabad Government Normal School because at that time in Normal School, the work of conducting the examination had to be done by the Principal only.
After finishing the examination, I went to Kanpur for the service of my father.
At that time my brother was the controller of Kanpur Atherton West. All facilities were accessible to them. The burden of my father’s service was on my mother. Seeing some improvement in my father’s health, I came back to Allahabad. At that time, from July 1963 to July 1964, I was working as the headmistress of the Government Girls Deeksha Vidyalaya.
In April 1964, the examination was going on that at 7.30 in the morning my nephew came and told that my father had passed away on April 17 at 5.30 am.

I came home after giving the school charge and after preparing meticulously left for Kanpur by mail bus but could not reach home Kanpur before 5.30 am.
Father’s body was taken to the banks of the Ganges at 2.30 in the day. Dada was the controller of the mill, due to which the mill was closed. All the employees reached the banks of the Ganges to pay their respects. At that time my father was 78 years old.
The maternal uncles, Maushi, brothers, and sisters of the family had all come to console my mother.
We girls did the ‘chautha karya’ and grandfather did terhi by the classical law. A large number of people were present at the ceremony.
I have collected the ashes of the burnt paper before all this and I have kept it in a vial which keeps reminding me of the warning from Maharaj Ji and this whole incident.
